Valerie Moore is an Elemental, a person who commands one of the classical elements of wind, water, fire, or earth. She’s special, though. She controls two—fire and water—though sometimes it seems like they control her.

After the accidental exposure of Elementals to humanity, Valerie finds herself—and all of her kind—struggling to attain equality. Three different groups fight to secure leadership, and with all of their hidden agendas, she doesn’t know which side to choose. The balance between peaceful cohabitation and all-out war is precarious, at best.

When a chance meeting brings Val and earth Elemental Cade Landston back together, everything changes. She realizes what she knew in the beginning—that he’s the one she wants. Her desire to win him over draws her closer to him, and his vengeful mission to hunt down her murderous grandfather brings them both closer to trouble.

From mysterious doppelgangers to reckless rescue missions, scapegoat bombings, and evolving Elemental powers, Valerie strains to keep up.

All she knows is she must stop her grandfather at all costs. To do so, she has to figure out the truth, but how can she do so when almost everyone she knows has been telling lies?

Valerie is an Elemental a person who can control one of the elements. Valerie is unique in that she is able to control fire and water. There was an incident that exposed elementals to the world. They now find themselves fighting for equality among the rest of humanity. There are three groups within the elementals fighting for power on how to proceed. Some of the groups are trying to start a war with other elementals and even the humans. Valerie with the help of friends is trying to find the balance between the groups. Though knowing who her friends really are is hard to know. Valerie must figure out which group she stands with to help bring the peace.

In ” an Oyster Shell – It was an incredibly creative story that was full of action.

The Pearls – It is a really creative storyline. I like this kind of paranormal. I liked the people that could control the elements. I haven’t read anything like it and I read a lot.

The political aspect of the story was really interesting. There were three groups among the elementals that all stood for something. I couldn’t help but wonder if there was some correlation with the political environment we find ourselves in today. I don’t usually like politics and it was an interesting take on the story but it really works in the end.

I liked that the story was multi-faceted. There was a lot going on. I liked the romance part of it. The world was going to pieces but there was still time for romance. There was a little bit of a love triangle. It was ever so slight but it was there. Valerie’s romantic choices were interesting.

The Sand – It was a good book.

4 Pearls!
