In the vein of New York Times bestselling authors Susan Mallery, Robyn Carr, and Kristan Higgins, comes the first in a new women's fiction novel from Olivia Miles.
Sometimes the road to happily ever after takes a few wrong turns...
Kate Daniels couldn't be more excited to be planning her best friend's wedding...in theory. Lately, just thinking about gowns and centerpieces makes her want to hide under the covers with her dog and a good book --one that doesn't include a romantic plot, thank you very much. Maybe it's because her fiancé cheated. Or maybe it's because he cheated with her younger sister, Charlotte. Or maybe it's because her newfound reputation as jilted wedding planner isn't exactly doing wonders for her career.
Charlotte knows she messed up. Big time. But she also knows something Kate doesn't-something that might bring them close again, if her sister will ever take her calls. But as time passes and silence grows, Charlotte begins to realize she can't hide from her problems forever, and that sometimes the only place to run is home.
With the wedding only a week away, Kate expects a few surprises. But what she doesn't expect is to find herself believing...in the strength of family, and the possibility of finding love again.
Kate Daniels is planning her best friend’s wedding. It should be a happy occasion but it is not without its sorrows for Kate. Kate was engaged to be married not too long ago and it ended because he cheated on her with her sister Charlotte. Kate works hard to put that behind her and ignore Charlotte who keeps calling her to make amends. Kate has her hands full with the best man who is more interested in making his business work than the wedding. Will Kate get the wedding to go off without a hitch and maybe with more of a healed heart for her?
In ” an Oyster Shell – A poignant tale of forgiveness and moving forward.
The Pearls – The concept was surprising to me. The surprising aspect was the sister who cheated with her ex’ fiance. I don’t know why I find this surprising but it was. Learning to forgive her sister is a part of the story. It’s hard and Kate struggles and that kept me turning the pages. The added depth of a romance with the best man made this a great story.
The characters were everything in this story. There was Kate a high strung no non-sense wedding planner. Then there was the bride who was on cloud nine the whole story. Then Alec the self-absorbed best man who gets a little less so with Kate around. Then there is Charlotte who is kind of a sad character but adds to the story none the less.
The romance was perfect for what Kate was going through. It was unexpected but ended up being something she could count on. It was a great addition to the story.
The Sand – Charlotte was really a sad character and stars in the next book. I don’t know if I will continue.
