What could happen when the nerd of Roosevelt High becomes Hollywood’s next superstar? Answer: Anything.
Before she became Evie Chase, Hollywood's Golden Girl, Evie was a nobody at the bottom of the high school food chain with only a handful of friends. Her best friend - Adam Fields - was a popular jock who always had her back. Until one day, he stopped, and they never spoke again. Fast forward three years, and everything has changed. Evie is out in LA living the dream as a seventeen year old popstar, Adam’s at home finishing off high school, and they are both trying their best to forget the past. They are living separate lives and everything is running smoothly. Until...Evie’s back.
To avoid paparazzi, the young starlet returns to school in disguise. As the teenagers get to know each other again, Adam unaware that the new girl is his former best friend, they are both left wondering - did the past actually happen the way they remember it? And could their revived friendship turn out to be something more?
Evie loves her best friend Adam but nobody knows except her diary. When her jealous friend unearths the contents to the entire school Evie is glad that her parents want to move her across the country. A few years later she comes back to the little town in a disguise as she is now a teenage pop star. She reconnects with her friends that have no idea who she is. Adam misses is friend and regrets what happened between them now that she’s world famous she’s untouchable. The new girl in school seems to mysteriously have mannerisms similar to his former friend. It doesn’t take to long before the whole plan unravels.
In an Oyster Shell – This was a cute story that left me wanting more.
The Pearls – I love an underdog character rising above her circumstances and becoming unstoppable. I like the teen idol concept who has become so popular she has to hide in her former small town. I loved the different perspective she got as she reconnected with her friends who thought she was someone else.
The characters are memorable. I like Evie who is really down to earth despite her superstardom. Adam is a great hero who really knows his best friend. Who doesn’t love a friend to something more story?
The romance was sweet with some twists. This is one of the better YA romances that I have read in a long time. I was really rooting for Evie she deserved a HEA.
The Sand – It was a good book.
