Today ” is not going to start out as a bookish topic, but a topic that has been on my mind none the less. A year or two ago something tragic happened. Betty Crocker discontinued their rainbow chip frosting. I was devastated! I’ve been a die-hard rainbow chip fan since high school. My mom liked to make the cute little cakes for everyone and time and again I just wanted plain old rainbow chip cake with rainbow chip frosting. Don’t mess with a classic. I was sure life as I knew it was over, when rainbow chip frosting became more scarce through the years then it just disappeared altogether. I was sure that was the end.
In my e-mail a couple of years ago I got a recipe for rainbow chip frosting! They brought it back! I was so happy I went out and bought some and paired it with some gluten free cupcakes. It gave me hope people! That’s the topic of today. Don’t be surprised when things circle back into your life that you thought were gone. Things and people find their way back in the most mysterious ways… I’m going to tie this back to bookish things.
I believe that life is a story, some things will end in tragedy and some in happy endings, others that just leave you wondering. People often think we read to lose ourselves, I would argue that we read to make sense of the world around us. To expand our boundaries. Our perspectives are so limited and fiction opens up our horizons. I believe there is a divine story-teller that is working out all our life stories, and is working out all the details, from rainbow chip frosting to more important things. Reading helps us know more how the world works. In case it alludes you there is always rainbow chip frosting to make it better.
What’s something that has been lost in your life that came back?
