Friday Coffee & Bookish Speaks – Reading for the Holidays

Can you believe two weeks from now we will be stuffing our faces with Thanksgiving leftovers and some shall enter the madness known as Black Friday! This would be a good time to tell you guys that I go to the Oregon Coast for the holiday, and their Black Friday is actually Mimosa Madness.

You go around to all the locally owned shops, drink mimosas, and shop all the cuteness. I’ve done Black Friday shopping on occasion, and Mimosa Madness is definitely a better way to go. You’re supporting local business. You can’t go wrong with that.

I’ll tell you a little secret I have three favorite alcoholic beverages – Strawberry Margarita, Mimosa’s and Blackberry Beer. The latter two taste best when at the beach. (you can only get the beer at a local brewery in that town) So it’s all good for me. Bring on the Mimosa Madness!

Along with that tradition, I’m starting a new tradition this year! Holiday Reading. This is my first year running a book blog and I’ve been running into different opportunities of Holiday blog events. Particularly, holiday read-a-thons. This has gotten me in the mood to read some Christmas stories. The best Christmas stories… Romance (preferably clean).

I have been collecting my holiday books and gearing up for holiday reading bliss. I’ve even slowed down on the ARC’s and book tours so I could do this. My plan is to take the next few weeks and gorge on holiday romance. I love making holiday traditions and I am so excited for this one!

Do you have a holiday reading tradition? What is it?

Mimosa Madness sounds incredible and I’m so sad I’m on the East Coast because I’ll probably never experience it. That being said, I’ve never experienced Black Friday myself either. I just can’t see myself shopping in those horrible conditions for sales. Especially now-a-days where you can get the same deals. . .online. Sweet deal!

I am absolutely a seasonal reader. I save a good amount of horror books for Halloween. At Christmas I love to re-read Harry Potter. It’s such a magical time. I also have an adult Christmas Horror favorite from author Joe Hill called NOS4A2 that I read every year in December. Gets the heart pumping!

I’m excited to see which books you pick for your holiday reading!

Sounds like you are into horror! Ha ha… I’m a wimp when it comes to that. Interesting that you read Harry Potter around this time.

I love your new tradition! This is my 3rd HoHoHo readathon so I suppose that it has become a tradition for me too. My other bookish holiday tradition is new pjs, snacks and wine, and a very special book for Christmas eve, I put a lot of thought into what that book will be as I want it to be one I really enjoy.

Christmas at Lilac College is amazing! I would consider it. I laughed so hard, it had great romance to it to.
