Friday Coffee & Bookish Speaks – Letting Loose

Happy ” Friday! I’m still on a break from coffee so I’ll be drinking a Lavander Chamomille tea today.

I have a very rigid reading schedule. Lately, I’ve been doing three reviews a week most of them requests from authors so I have to stay on track. If I want to fulfill my commitments. There is this little part of me that is ready to rebel and go crazy and read what I want.

I will confess sometimes I feel trapped by the strict confines I have put myself in. I just want to go crazy and read what I want.

I think I should just let loose and do it! What do you think?

I’m very passionate about helping authors, and the biggest help to authors is doing reviews. I agree to do a lot of reviews because I feel I’m doing my part to help the reading/writing community go round. This is the reason I have such a strict reading schedule but today I’m going to read what I want!

I’ll let you know that it’s not lost on me the humor of a good time is going off my reading schedule. HA HA! I live dangerously! When I went to visit my dad this past spring I confessed to him that I needed to cut back on my reading. He laughed at me! He said “Jessica, people cut back on drinking too much or eating, not reading.” What can I say I live life to the extreme! LOL!

Do you have a reading schedule? How does it make you feel?

I have a reading schedule to an extent. If books are coming out soon, I do try and make sure I start reading those, but if I’m not feeling it or want to read something that I just own, I do try and do that. It’s never fun to MAKE yourself read so I do think you should read more of what you want! You have to mix it up sometimes.

My thoughts exactly. I read a book that wasn’t on my schedule and it was so nice!

The only real schedule I have is for ARC’s and tours. If I request an ARC and get it, I write it’s release date in my calendar so that I know I have to read the book by that time. I used to just accept all the book requests that came my way when I first started but it started to wear on me. I was losing my passion for reading. So instead, I offer authors that contact me a chance to do an excerpt or guest post on the blog. That way they can still get their name and book out there, and I can continue to read the books I already have on my plate. ;)

It may have to come down to that. I am seriously thinking of not accepting requests for a little while at least. Though getting the requests is one of my favorite parts of blogging. Sounds like you have found a happy medium. I will need to find mine.

I have… not quite a reading schedule, but I have a list of books and their publishing dates, so that I know kind of when I *should* read them by. It helps me to feel not completely stressed and stuck to a list, but I also get to the books in time to review them, so I see it as a win. And then if I get ahead of my list (like right now, I am halfway through my November books already) then I get to read some books I bought! So I say, read what you want! ANd yeah, try to get to the review books and such, but mostly, make yourself happy, and the rest will fall into place!

Getting ahead right now would make me happy. Though I scheduled a book I wanted to read and am reading it right now so I am happy.
